InfoWorld’s Test Center unveiled the 2012 technology of the Year Awards more
After more than a decade of Linux vendors are attempting to grow into a company–and Red Hat, the poster child for Linux, approaching $ 1 billion in annual revenue — it’s easy to assume that Linux in the business. It is, but as the enterprise Linux Foundation survey found, there are still obstacles to overcome. The survey also showed that new data does not display Windows-Unix-like operating system that is being migrated to the main Linux.
Foundation surveyed 428 professionals from organizations with 500 or more employees or with at least $ 500 million in annual revenue. North American companies represented by 42 percent of respondents, while European companies and Asia represented by 21 and 15 per cent, respectively. It is unclear how large a percentage of the respondents were sourced from the Linux Foundation end user Council (which will be more likely to use open source) versus a broad sampling of IT respondents. That said, the survey results bode well for further growth of Linux–and serve as a caution to Microsoft.

Linux growing cost of Windows ‘
In the survey, 84 percent of respondents reported their companies use Linux to grow over the next 12 months. Eight percent of respondents said that their company will increase the use of Linux for the past five years.
