Three ways to Tweak Ubuntu unity Desktop — PCWorld

Unity desktop environment which recently made default in Ubuntu Linux has been nothing if not controversial, as have the alternative GNOME 3.

Fortunately, thanks to customizability that has long been a hallmark of open source software in General and Linux in particular, You can change this so that both the desktop more to your liking.

Not long ago I wrote about the new site, dedicated to GNOME 3 extension that can help you create Your own desktop. Now, I want to profile some of the ways You can tweak the unity.

The most traditional approaches–and most complicated–to tweaking Ubuntu is to use the CompizConfig Settings Manager, which is available at how-to Geek on. Be warned, though, which is not always an easy process, especially for beginners. The approach is more easily available now, such as through two tools here.
